HALLMARKING
Hallmarks are marks added, by an independent body, to items made in precious metals. This is to validate the material that the pieces are made of - the metal and the quality (fineness). In general, a hallmark is proof that the item is of the standard of fineness indicated by the hallmark struck on that item.
I follow hallmarking requirements for all countries in which I sell.
Where hallmarks are legally required and in some other cases, I have the Dutch national hallmark applied as well as the Common Control Mark if required. This is done by the Dutch Assay Office. Where hallmarking requirements are beyond the Dutch national mark or the Common Control Mark, I am not currently selling.
I can only guarantee that a piece will be hallmarked in line with the the legal requirements (note, in some countries there are none). If you wish to know whether your piece will be hallmarked or have any questions on this process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Hallmarking may be added to pieces even in instances where it is not an obligation. However, please note that hallmarking is a costly process and if this is upon the customer’s request and not a legal obligation, this may incur additional charges.
